It is pretty obvious at this point that I absolutely love hyper realistic drawings. It’s easy to just take a photograph to capture a moment but to draw a subject brings a new life to it and Cesar Del Valle, an artist from Columbia did just that. His pieces are almost interactive and they look as though they were photographed. A moment in being human captured on canvas. Take a look at his blog {via: Cesar Del Valle} which highlights even more of the intricacy of his work.

Jai Paul/ Jasmine/(Demo)
Jai Paul the UK singer/songwriter who created quite the buzz for himself with music bloggers with his 2007 demo BTSTU, that really didn’t get much attention until about 2010 into 2011. It’s now 2012 and Jai is revealing more of his amazing electro-soul sound with the track entitled Jasmine.
According to MyModernMet.com:
It’s hard to believe that Tokyo-born, Oklahoma-based artist Juuri has been practicing her hand at fine art painting for just a little over a year. In that time, she has grasped not only the art of painting, but her own style of visual presentation. Juuri accurately defines her own art, saying, “My work portrays the delicate beauty of the female face enveloped by traditional Japanese patterns, gold leaf, and strategic paint drips. I explore the juxtaposition of realism and non-objectivity, tradition and modernism, innocence and mortality.
I know artist that have practicing their craft for decades and still have not been able to fully grasp and capture the same beauty as Jurri (sorry guys!). This is truly a gift and I am so jealous of people who are naturally gifted in the arts, especially painting. Mind blown. Check out more of Jurri’s masterful pieces Here
I know it’s super warm out across most of the country but his style makes me miss the fashion of the winter ( that sooo did not exist this year). Bravo!

Friends / Friend Crush / (Single: March 2011)
Friends, the Brooklyn based band with sultry, dreamy, vocals is quickly becoming one of my favorite groups. I kind of randomly stumbled upon them on one of those weekends where you totally zonk out on the couch and get lost in the wonders of Youtube. Instead of watching kittens in boxes I managed to come across their single I’m His Girl, A declaration of a relationship, a verbal ” I know you not touchin’ my man!” packaged in a fun, cool tack. I was well aware of their awesomeness but it wasn’t until they covered one of my favorite tracks from the 90s that they quite literally had me at My Boo. Check out their version of the song below and give their debut single Friend Crush a listen, I’m sure you’ll love them too. Of course the link to their band camp where you can buy and/ or download is always in italics (their tracks are FREE!), you know the drill.
[Note: I was going to post a higher quality of this video but you know? The guy dancing in the background was so the frig awesome that I couldn’t possibly let you miss that. Enjoy and dance!]

Magnus Gjoen is a UK based artist who’s artwork is based around placing beauty in objects that are considered unattractive. Using graphic techniques he able to place beautiful, classic, paintings in objects such as skulls, beetles, and guns, creating a dangerously appealing effect. I don’t know what is up with me and skulls lately but I keep finding people doing really amazing things with skulls. I guess beauty really is found in everything. Check out Magnus’ portfolio here.

Beautiful editorial from the January issue of JNC Magazine, photographed by Yves Borgwardt. I love when fashion editorials are not over the top productions but is really centered around either the clothing or posed in artistic form, simplicity is truely intriguing.

I don’t know why but I have always loved double exposure photography. I love digging through old photographs searching for double exposures. They’re always interesting and kind of creepy. I got that same feeling of curiosity when viewing this eerily beautiful photography by Alison Scarpulla. Done completely on purpose these photos give you an other worldly feel that’s both and exciting and slightly scary all at once. Check out more of Alison’s beautiful photography on her website.
